We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled SEN Construction/DT Teacher to join our specialist SEMH school, working within our Post-16 provision. This is a long-term opportunity, with a permanent position available for the right candidate.
About the Role
You will lead and deliver Level 1/2 vocational construction qualifications to Post-16 students within our brand-new Technological Centre, opened in April 2026. The facility includes purpose-built workshop environments designed to replicate real construction settings, enabling students to develop practical trade skills, confidence, independence, and employability.
The curriculum is primarily delivered at Key Stage 5, with opportunities to expand provision into Key Stage 4 as the programme develops.
You will teach a broad range of practical construction skills, including:
- Bricklaying
- Carpentry / Woodwork
- Plastering
- Tiling
- General construction skills

Key Responsibilities
- Deliver engaging vocational construction lessons at Level 1/2
- Develop and implement a practical, industry-relevant curriculum
- Support students’ personal development, confidence, and employability
- Contribute to the growth of vocational provision across the school
- Work closely with the Vocational Lead and wider staff team
- Build positive relationships with students, families, and external partners
- Develop links with local employers and industry professionals
- Experience working with young people with SEND and/or SEMH needs
- A strong background in construction or vocational education
- Ability to deliver practical, hands-on learning in a workshop environment
- A trauma-informed and restorative approach to behaviour support
- A collaborative and flexible teaching style
- Commitment to improving outcomes for vulnerable learners
