Orion are working with a successful & growing Civil Engineering Contractor to source a contracts manager who will oversee the contractual and financial aspects of multiple civil engineering projects.

As the contracts manager you will be responsible for the successful delivery of the projects assigned to you with the responsibility to ensure health, safety, environmental & quality compliance as well as programme and budget requirements. Additionally, wou will assist in developing the sustainable profitable growth of the business through delivering successful projects, building, and maintaining successful teams and by maintaining personal training and development as an example to others. 

Some of the Typical Responsibilities and Duties May Include The role will involve overseeing and managing multiple civil engineering projects from conception to completion, including the following:

• Contract Administration: Administering contracts throughout the project lifecycle, understanding the scope of work, deliverables, timelines, and other terms and conditions, and ensuring that all parties comply with their obligations so that the project progresses according to plan.
• Budget Management: Assisting contract QS/Commercial Manager on project budgets, preparing cost estimates, and tracking expenses to ensure that the project remains within budget constraints.
• Risk Management: Identifying and assessing risks associated with the project, developing risk mitigation strategies, and monitoring risks throughout the project lifecycle.
• Quality Assurance: Ensuring that the project meets the required quality standards and that all work is performed in accordance with contract specifications and industry standards.
• Change Management: Assessing and documenting changes to the project scope, timelines, or costs, and negotiating change orders with clients and subcontractors.
• Dispute Resolution: Resolving disputes with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers in a timely and effective manner, while minimizing the impact on the project.
• Project Coordination: Facilitating effective communication among project stakeholders, including clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal team members, to ensure smooth project execution and that all parties are working together effectively.
• Reporting: Preparing regular reports on project progress and other key metrics and communicating these reports to stakeholders & senior management as necessary.
• Compliance: Ensuring that all project activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements, as well as company policies and procedures. 

Relationship Management
  •  Establish and develop strong relations with key individuals and decision makers within the client base, o Build, develop, support, and maintain the site team/workforce. o provide required support to site management teams on the production of all project documentation as appropriate. 
  •  Develop and protect subcontractor relationships by establishing effective supply chain management, policies, procedures, and monitoring systems.
  •  Working with team to suggest, explore and deliver new and innovative ways of working that will take cost out and deliver material benefits across all other KPIs.
  •  Support the Bid/Tendering team by providing operational support as required. This may include providing programme support and written text such as plans, risk assessments etc. as well as chairing and participating in pre-construction and progress meetings, etc. with subcontractors, clients,   and stakeholders.
  •  Responsible for ensuring that all company procedures and policies are implemented by the site management teams.
  •  Identifying and selecting subcontractors, negotiating contracts, and managing their performance to ensure they meet project requirements and adhere to contractual obligations.
In summary, the civil engineering contracts manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the project's contracts, finances, and risk management, while also ensuring that the project is completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
