Controls Engineer – Bespoke Automation / Systems Integration
Cheshire / Warrington Area (Hybrid + Site Travel)

I’m recruiting for a Controls Engineer to join a growing automation business delivering bespoke material handling and integrated automation systems across the UK.

The work is varied and project-led, covering the full lifecycle from PLC / HMI development through to commissioning, customer handover and ongoing support.

This would suit somebody who enjoys seeing projects through properly rather than being stuck purely behind a desk writing code all day.

Key areas of the role include:

• PLC and HMI software development (Siemens and/or Rockwell)

• Commissioning and fault finding on customer sites

• FAT, SAT and system handover

• Supporting customers with live systems and upgrades

• Working closely with project engineers, software engineers and customers throughout delivery

The travel is mostly UK based and planned in advance, typically involving a handful of larger project phases each year rather than constant reactive travel.

The business itself has a fairly open and collaborative culture. Small engineering team, decent autonomy and realistic expectations around workload and travel.

They’re looking for somebody with:

• Experience within industrial automation, systems integration or special purpose machinery

• Strong PLC background with Siemens and/or Rockwell

• Confidence dealing directly with customers and taking ownership of projects

• A mix of design, commissioning and troubleshooting experience

Package:

• up to 65k basic salary
