About the Role

We are seeking a highly organised and confident Correspondence Manager to join our Communications Team on a temporary agency basis. This is a pivotal role at the heart of our organisation's public-facing activity, managing incoming correspondence from a wide range of stakeholders including MPs, senior civil servants, CEOs and members of the public.

As part of the correspondence function, you will play a leading role in ensuring high-quality, timely and accurate responses, helping to uphold the organisation's reputation and commitment to clear, accessible communication.



Key Responsibilities

You will:

  • Monitor the correspondence inbox daily, ensuring all enquiries are logged, tracked and allocated appropriately
  • Deliver prompt, accurate and high-quality responses to all correspondence
  • Draft letters and emails on a wide range of complex issues, tailoring tone and content for different audiences
  • Coordinate input from colleagues to produce clear, consistent responses
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to teams on handling correspondence effectively
  • Identify and escalate sensitive or high-risk issues that could impact organisational reputation
  • Stay informed on current affairs, particularly equality and human rights topics relevant to the organisation
  • Support the Head of Corporate Communications in the day-to-day management of the correspondence function
  • Represent the correspondence team in internal meetings


About You

We are looking for someone who can bring:

  • Proven experience writing for a variety of audiences on complex issues
  • Strong ability to translate detailed or technical information into clear, plain English
  • Experience of line management and supporting team delivery
  • Confidence working in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities
  • Experience managing or overseeing day-to-day team operations
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including handling sensitive or challenging enquiries
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • The ability to quickly build knowledge of the organisation and use it to respond effectively to queries
  • A collaborative approach, with the ability to build strong relationships across all levels
