The Role

As a Decommissioning and Dismantling Engineer, you will participate in core engineering tasks including decommissioning planning, design, and waste handling studies. Your daily responsibilities will span from feasibility assessments and preliminary design to on-site oversight during dismantling and demolition activities. You will be responsible for developing multi-phase decommissioning plans, creating flow diagrams, and supporting hazard identification processes such as HAZOP and HAZID. Additionally, preparing technical tender documents and responses will be a key part of your role, working closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to ensure project success.

You will have the following qualifications & experience:

  • Proven experience within nuclear decommissioning, waste management projects, or in a highly regulated industry such as nuclear power generation.
  • Extensive knowledge of decommissioning planning, design, and engineering techniques.
  • A degree (BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng) in nuclear engineering, decommissioning, waste management, or a related field, ideally with a specialist focus in nuclear.
  • Membership of a professional body is desirable.
  • Strong communication skills, both oral and written, with the ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders.
  • A proactive approach to solving complex technical questions independently.
  • Excellent organisational skills, capable of managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Commitment to self-development and learning within the role.
