The role
The Demand Planner is responsible for developing accurate demand forecasts to support inventory management and production planning across all categories. Using sales data, trends and business insights, you will incorporate promotions, seasonal demand and new product launches into planning activities while contributing to the continuous improvement of forecasting processes and team performance.
What you will be doing?
- Develop demand forecasts using historical data, trends and customer insight
- Monitor forecasts to ensure accuracy, especially around launches, peaks and promotional periods
- Review capacity models to ensure forecasted volumes do not pose a risk to supply
- Work closely with procurement and production teams to avoid shortages or overstocks
- Build relationships with customer teams to develop collaborative forecasting across businesses
- Use analysis to inform and support commercial forecasts for costings
- Undertake deeper analysis of forecasts to suggest potential opportunities or risks to the business
- Develop and maintain reports for relevant KPIs as required
- Undertake any other reasonable duties as required to support the smooth operation of the production and planning function
- Lead, coach, and develop a small team, embedding best practices and driving continuous improvement across forecasting and planning activities
What we want from you?
- Experience working in a demand planning role within the food manufacturing sector
- Strong understanding of supply chain, capacity modelling, and manufacturing processes
- Proficient Excel skills and familiarity with statistical forecasting methods
- Experience using forecasting tools and ERP systems
- Strong organisation and time management skills, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities
- Previous experience of managing and mentoring a team
