Demand & Production Planner (FMCG Manufacturing)

The Demand & Production Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and monitoring production schedules to ensure products are manufactured efficiently and on time. The role balances customer demand, capacity, materials, and labour to optimise production flow and inventory levels.
Location: Iver, Buckinghamshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am-5:00pm
Salary: £45,000-£55,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Responsibilities & Duties:
- Develop and maintain detailed production schedules based on sales forecasts, customer orders, and inventory targets
- Coordinate with Sales, Procurement, Engineering, and Manufacturing to align demand and supply plans
- Plan material requirements and work closely with Purchasing to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components
- Monitor production progress and adjust schedules to address delays, capacity constraints, or changes in demand
- Analyse production capacity, labour availability, and equipment utilisation to improve efficiency
- Maintain accurate data on stock levels (on-site and off-site)
- Identify risks to delivery schedules and proactively propose mitigation actions
- Support continuous improvement initiatives related to planning accuracy, lead times, and inventory optimisation
- Prepare and present planning reports, KPIs, and performance metrics to management
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Liaise with customers and suppliers to manage delivery dates and production plans
Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):
- Schedule adherence / on-time delivery
- Inventory turns and stock accuracy
- Production efficiency and capacity utilisation
- Planning accuracy vs. forecast
- Lead time reduction
Skills & Competencies:
- Advanced Microsoft Excel knowledge (Macros, Pivot Tables, etc.)
- Microsoft Power BI knowledge
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organisational and time-management abilities
- Effective communication and stakeholder coordination skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage changing priorities
- Detail-oriented with a continuous improvement mindset
