Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Deputy Lead for Technical Services to play a critical role within a specialist rectification team, supporting the diagnosis of operational issues and the delivery of sustainable improvements across engineering and facilities management services.

This role is centred on analysing end‑to‑end FM operations and CAFM data flows to identify performance, compliance and efficiency gaps. The postholder will operate at a senior technical level, working across asset data governance, planned and reactive maintenance, technical risk management and alignment of operational practices with contractual requirements.

The Deputy Lead for Technical Services will be responsible for pinpointing root causes of systemic issues and designing practical, scalable solutions. This includes optimising CAFM systems, improving data quality, standardising workflows and embedding best‑practice ways of working across operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Analyse operational symptoms such as incorrect or incomplete work orders, poor CAFM data quality and workflow inefficiencies.
  • Investigate issues across the full FM lifecycle, from survey data capture through system input to engineering delivery.
  • Carry out structured root cause analysis covering CAFM configuration, data standards, governance and engineer workflows.
  • Identify failures in data accuracy, process consistency and system integration that impact operational performance.
  • Design and define practical, scalable solutions including process improvements, workflow redesign and standardisation.
  • Support CAFM system optimisation, including data structures, workflows and management of work orders.
  • Develop and support training interventions to improve engineer and user capability, compliance and consistency.
  • Lead or support the implementation of improvements, embedding best‑practice operational approaches within delivery teams.

Person Specification

  • Proven leadership experience in technical and operational facilities management environments.
  • Senior management experience within large, complex FM or engineering operations.
  • Strong knowledge of FM technical contracts and associated commercial models.
  • Professionally qualified engineer (e.g. CEng or IEng) or equivalent practical experience.
  • Demonstrable expertise in CAFM systems, data management and workflow optimisation.
  • Strong understanding of end‑to‑end work order processes and FM data lifecycles.
  • Excellent diagnostic, analytical and problem‑solving skills.
  • Proven experience in process design, implementation and change management.
