We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Deputy Manager to support the day-to-day operations of our Children's Home. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills and have a passion for helping children ahieve their full potential
This role is pivotal in maintaining a safe and theraputic environment while fostering a nurtuting atmosphere for both staff and children. We are looking for a committed and passionate deputy manager who can give high levels of care to our children and allow them to achieve positive outcomes.
Duties
- Assist the Registerd Manager in overseeing daily duties and staff management.
- Implement and enforce compnay policies and procedures to ensure compliance with company standards & Ofsted regulations.
- You will ensure the care and welfare of each child and give support and guidance to the wider staff team.
- Using your life skills, you will have the opportunity to make a huge difference within a child's life, create positive theraputic relationships with them, meeting their individual needs and always ensure they are safeguarded.
- You will be responsible for staff supervision, leading shifts, managing staff rotas, chairing staff meetings, and ensuring support plans and risk assessments reamin current and are adhered to.
- Ensuring that the child's education is paramount.
Please note this is not intended as an exhaustive description of duties and you will be required to cover shifts on the floor as required night or day, as well as complete some admin / office hours. The Deputy Manager role is a blended position combining schedule administrative office hours alongside hands on shift work to support the day - to - day running of the home and provide guidance, mentoring and consistant on the floor leadership.
Experience
- Proven experience in a supervisory or managerial role within a similar environment.
- Level 3 Diploma in Children's Residential Service or equivalent
- NVQ or Diploma Level 5 in Leadership and management in Residential Childcare Services or willing to work towards.
- Strong leadership capabilities with a track record of effectivley managaing a team.
- Working knowledge of child protection and safeguarding procedures
- understanding of the regulatory framework for residential children's homes.
- Experience with Ofsted regulations and requirements.
- Experience of being part of an Ofsted inspection desirable.
- Familiarity with report writing and documentation processes for a Children's home.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for this role.
- Strong organisational skills
- Must have a caring and open-minded nature and be willing to work on call
- Ability to be confident and to lead and motivate a staff team.
- Knowledge and familiarity of implementing a therapeutic approach
Desirable skills:
- At least 1 year in a deputy role previously
- At least 2 years of experience of working in a Children's Residential Home setting within the last 5 years.
- A full drivers licence and access to a car is desirable.
