Design Engineer

Elevation Recruitment Group are working with an innovative product-focused manufacturer to recruit a Design Engineer for their growing engineering and product development team.

This is an excellent opportunity for a creative and commercially minded Design Engineer who enjoys taking products from initial concept through to manufacture and launch. The role has a strong front-end product design focus, making it particularly well suited to candidates who enjoy creating visually appealing, user focused products as well as solving engineering challenges.

We're keen to speak with individuals from a range of design backgrounds, including Product Design, Industrial Design, Design Engineering or Mechanical Design. Applications are welcomed from candidates with either a BA or BEng/MEng qualification, provided they have experience developing physical products for manufacture.

As a Design Engineer, you will:

• Lead new product development projects from concept generation through to production and market launch
• Create innovative product concepts, considering aesthetics, usability, manufacturability and commercial requirements
• Develop 3D models, technical drawings and engineering documentation
• Support the ongoing development and improvement of existing products through engineering change and continuous improvement activities
• Work closely with manufacturing, quality, product management, sales and marketing teams to ensure successful product delivery
• Provide technical support across the wider business
• Contribute to value engineering initiatives to improve product performance, quality and cost-effectiveness
• Ensure all technical documentation, specifications and drawings are maintained accurately and updated when required

• Degree qualified (or relevant experience) in Product Design, Industrial Design, Design Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience working within a product development, R&D or new product introduction environment
• Strong 3D CAD skills (SolidWorks or similar)
• A passion for front-end product design and developing products that are both functional and visually appealing
• Experience creating and communicating concepts through sketches, renders and design visualisation techniques
• Strong understanding of mechanical design principles
• Excellent communication and technical documentation skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and work effectively within cross-functional teams

• Consumer products, lifestyle products, household products or other customer-facing product sectors
• Injection moulding, blow moulding or plastics product design and manufacture
• Experience designing products for high-volume production
• Exposure to a variety of manufacturing processes and materials
