Design Engineer

I’m currently recruiting for a creative and driven Design Engineer to join a leading composite manufacturer based in Chippenham. You will join their permanent team, playing a key role in the development of innovative components, products, and technologies. This position focuses on the full design lifecycle—from concept through to detailed design and first article manufacture—ensuring high-quality, production-ready solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conceptualise, design, and develop components and products in line with the company’s technology roadmap
• Deliver end-to-end CAE activities, including CAD modelling, simulation, drafting, and engineering documentation
• Ensure designs are optimised for manufacturability, supporting New Product Introduction and scalable production
• Collaborate with internal teams, suppliers, and stakeholders to deliver robust and innovative design solutions
• Analyse prototype and simulation data, producing clear technical reports and design improvements
• Contribute to the development of design processes, standards, and documentation in line with ISO9001
• Support continuous improvement and LEAN design initiatives

Requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent)
• Experience in a design engineering environment
• Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks preferred)
• Strong understanding of simulation and analysis (FEA)
• Ability to produce and interpret engineering drawings (GD&T)
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes and design for production
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
