Mechanical Design Engineer - Subsea Tooling

Location: Aberdeen
Salary: Up to 55k

The Role

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Design Engineer to join our engineering team in the Aberdeen area. This role will focus on the design and development of subsea cutting tooling, supporting a range of offshore projects.

You will play a key part in delivering innovative, robust, and reliable tooling solutions for challenging subsea environments, working from concept through to manufacture and deployment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop subsea cutting tools and mechanical systems
  • Produce detailed engineering drawings and models using CAD (SolidWorks desirable)
  • Conduct design calculations, tolerance analysis, and material selection
  • Support prototyping, testing, and validation of designs
  • Work closely with manufacturing, project, and offshore teams
  • Ensure designs meet industry standards and client specifications
  • Contribute to continuous improvement and innovation within the engineering function

About You

  • Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Experience in mechanical design, ideally within subsea, offshore, or oil & gas sectors
  • Proficient in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks experience desirable)
  • Strong understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
  • Experience designing for harsh or subsea environments is advantageous
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
