We are recruiting for a Design & TOM Lead to join our client, a technology company.
We are offering an initial 12 month contract, with the option of permanent opportunities. Starting as soon as possible with an excellent day rate, employed via an Umbrella company.
About the role: The Design & Target Operating Model (TOM) Lead is responsible for architecting and delivering the future-state Finance organisation as part of enterprise-wide transformation initiatives. This includes defining the operating model, governance frameworks, end-to-end processes, talent strategy, and service delivery model. The role is pivotal in transforming Finance from a traditional transactional function into a scalable, AI-enabled, data-driven, and insight-led capability that delivers measurable business value, enhanced productivity, robust controls, and organisational agility. Acting as a strategic connector, this role bridges business strategy with finance operations, digital transformation, automation, AI, process excellence, and organisational redesign.
Key responsibilities include;
- Lead the development of the Finance Target Operating Model aligned with enterprise strategy
- Define future-state structures including retained organisation, shared services, and outsourced delivery models
- Establish governance frameworks, decision rights, and service management models
- Ensure the operating model supports scalability, efficiency, and agility
- Translate strategic objectives into practical, implementable operating model designs
- Drive transformation initiatives to modernise Finance into an insight-led, value-adding function
- Ensure alignment between business priorities and Finance capabilities
- Redesign end-to-end Finance processes (Record-to-Report, Procure-to-Pay, Order-to-Cash)
- Embed standardisation, simplification, and continuous improvement practices
- Apply process excellence methodologies (e.g., Lean, Six Sigma) to enhance efficiency and control
- Integrate automation, advanced analytics, and AI into Finance processes and workflows
- Partner with Technology and Data teams to shape digital roadmaps
- Enable data-driven decision-making through improved insights and reporting capabilities
- Define future-state roles, structures, and capability frameworks
- Identify skill requirements to support a modern Finance function
- Support talent strategy, upskilling, and cultural transformation
- Design robust governance and control frameworks aligned with regulatory requirements
- Ensure strong financial control environments within the operating model
- Define KPIs and performance metrics to track value realisation
- Partner with senior stakeholders across Finance, Technology, and the wider business
- Act as a trusted advisor on operating model design and transformation
- Drive alignment and engagement across complex, cross-functional programmes
