Despatch Operative

Elevation Recruitment Group are working in partnership with a leading manufacturing business to recruit a Despatch Operative for a 12-month fixed term contract based at their Wortley site.

Despatch Operative (12-Month Fixed Term Contract)
Location: Wortley (with travel to Shipley)
Salary: £29,750 per annum + benefits

The Role:
Working within a busy despatch function, you will be responsible for ensuring machinery parts and equipment are packed, checked, and prepared for safe transport, both within the UK and overseas.

Key Responsibilities:

• Packing machinery parts removed for transport, ensuring they are well protected
• Checking parts for correct quantity and quality prior to despatch
• Preparing and packing orders for shipment, including export orders
• Using in-house barcode scanning systems and completing data input for order processing
• Loading and unloading trailers using forklift trucks (counterbalance and pivot steer)
• Acting as banksman for vehicles entering site for loading
• Acting as a point of contact for drivers collecting from site
• Supporting other areas such as Stores and Despatch when required, including stock picking and delivering parts to build bays

Working Hours:

• Day shift pattern (Monday to Friday)
• Start times from 6:00am onwards (e.g. 6:00am–2:00pm or 7:00am–3:00pm depending on business needs)

About You:

• Previous experience in a warehouse or despatch environment
• Valid FLT / Counterbalance licence (preferred)
• Comfortable working across multiple sites (Wortley and Shipley)
• Computer literate with experience of warehouse or stock systems
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
• Proactive, reliable, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
• Driving licence required
