Berry Recruitment is out looking for an experienced Development Scientist to join a great team in the Crediton area.

Overall:
This role is responsible for managing and delivering product development projects for new and existing products. From brief to first production.
This role has relationships and works cross functionally with all parts of our business to deliver projects. Acts as a technical resource for the business. This includes issuing reports, statements and assisting with issue resolution.
Day to Day:
Delivery - As a member of an efficient development team you will be expected to:
-Work in an organised and autonomous manner within tight deadlines to ensure key deliverables are met.
-Maintain momentum and progress on multiple pieces of work at any one time
-Understand, manage and escalate risk where relevant
-Ensure you work towards clear and contracted deliverables and outputs, role modelling the highest levels of focus towards these results, whilst maintaining a degree of flexibility when these contracted outputs and goals change-ensuring you are able to pivot to changes in business requirements
Risk Management-As a member of the team, you will be expected to:
-Effectively analyse, communicate and advise the business on risk
-Make clear recommendations which take risk into consideration but allow for decisive business action and progress
Communication- Excel in communications to a wide variety of stakeholders within and outside of R&D, ensuring:
-verbal and written communication provides the clarity and levels of detail required for the situation and audience.
-you use your abilities and experience to communicate with clarity and understand if the right message has been received,
-coach others in delivering a message with the right amount of detail and ensuring the key and important points have been clearly conveyed.
Continuous development and knowledge-Ensure you are up to date with the Key nutritional and licenced medicine landscape themes. Ensure you highlight and discuss development needs and opportunities with your line manager, to keep your knowledge current and capabilties fit for future needs.Ensures that all activities are performed in accordance with company Health, Safety and Quality Policies and Procedures.Knows the ethical and legal compliance responsibilities of the position; raises questions and concerns when faced with an ethical or compliance issue; applies integrity in all aspects of professional conduct.
What do you need to have?
- Degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Pharmacy or equivalent development experience
- Product Development experience and expertise: experience of delivering product developments from concept to marketplace, to meet the requirements of the whole supply chain.
- Process development experience and expertise: experience of introducing new or improved process including equipment trials and scale up challenges.
- Project Management Process Knowledge
- Working knowledge of food regulatory environements
- Technical skills and knowledge, continuous learning and improvement mindset including application of statistical analysis to datasets
