Digital Engineer
About the Opportunity
Our client is seeking a Digital Engineer to join their growing Energy team during an exciting period of expansion, supporting new Small Modular Reactor (SMR) and Advanced Modular Reactor (AMR) developments across the UK and internationally.
Their work spans the full nuclear lifecycle, including Licensing, New Build, Generation, Life Extension, and Defueling projects. This is an excellent opportunity to join a forward-thinking organisation that is helping to shape the future of clean energy while supporting the UKs Net Zero ambitions.
The successful candidate will work within a collaborative, multidisciplinary environment and play a key role in delivering digital engineering solutions across a range of complex engineering projects.
The Role
This opportunity is ideally suited to someone with a background in engineering design, CAD, BIM, or digital engineering who has practical experience using AVEVA E3D.
Working closely with engineers, designers, project managers, construction teams, and clients, you will be responsible for ensuring engineering models are accurate, coordinated, and compliant with project requirements. The role will involve model development, clash detection, drawing and report production, data validation, issue resolution, and support for digital handover activities.
You will have the opportunity to contribute to major projects within the nuclear and wider energy sectors while supporting the continuous improvement of digital delivery processes and standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Develop, maintain, and coordinate 3D engineering models using AVEVA E3D.
* Support multi-discipline model development across piping, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, HVAC, and plant layout disciplines.
* Produce and check model outputs including drawings, layouts, reports, material take-offs, and bills of materials.
* Ensure model data is accurate, structured, and aligned with project and client requirements.
* Carry out model reviews, clash detection, constructability assessments, and design coordination activities.
* Interpret P&IDs, specifications, engineering standards, equipment layouts, vendor information, and technical documentation.
* Manage and validate tags, attributes, metadata, catalogues, specifications, and model status information.
* Maintain compliance with digital engineering procedures, CAD/BIM standards, naming conventions, and governance requirements.
* Support integration between AVEVA E3D and wider project delivery systems.
* Assist with digital handover requirements, as-built model updates, and final project information deliverables.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives including automation, reporting, templates, and quality assurance processes.
* Liaise with project teams, clients, suppliers, and contractors to resolve model and information-related issues.
* Provide technical guidance and support on AVEVA E3D and digital delivery processes.

* Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, P&IDs, layouts, isometrics, and vendor documentation.
* Experience producing engineering deliverables from 3D models.
* Strong attention to detail and understanding of data quality, revision control, and configuration management.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
* Ability to manage competing priorities and deliver to project deadlines.
* Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
Desirable
* Experience with AVEVA E3D administration, catalogues, specifications, reporting, project setup, and configuration.
* Knowledge of AVEVA PDMS, AVEVA Engineering, AVEVA Unified Engineering, AVEVA AIM, or related AVEVA applications.
* Experience with clash detection, model coordination, and issue resolution processes.
* Familiarity with PML scripting, automation, data extraction, or workflow optimisation.
* Understanding of BIM standards and ISO 19650 information management principles.
* Experience using Common Data Environments such as ProjectWise, Autodesk Construction Cloud, SharePoint, Asite, or Aconex.
* Experience with Navisworks, Solibri, AutoCAD, Revit, MicroStation, SmartPlant, or similar design and review tools.
* Experience working with point cloud data, laser scans, or brownfield environments.
* Understanding of digital handover, asset information requirements, or digital twin methodologies.
* Experience within the nuclear, energy, power, oil & gas, utilities, water, infrastructure, manufacturing, marine, chemical, or pharmaceutical sectors.
Qualifications
* HNC, HND, Degree, Apprenticeship, or equivalent experience in Engineering, Digital Engineering, CAD, BIM, Construction, or a related technical discipline.
* Formal AVEVA E3D training, certification, or demonstrable industry experience.
* Relevant engineering discipline background such as piping, mechanical, structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, process, plant layout, or building services engineering.
* Membership of a relevant professional institution would be advantageous.
