Salary: Up to £76,298 per annum (£61,337 basic + London Allowance of £4,613 if applicable + SFIA supplement of up to £10,346 awarded at 0%, 50% or 100% based on performance validation)
Location: London, Birmingham, Cardiff, Glasgow, Manchester or Leeds (hub-based, blended home and office working)
Working pattern: 37 hours per week, 22-Month Fixed Term Contract

British Transport Police is the national police force for the rail network throughout Great Britain. The Technology Department is seeking a Digital Workplace Architect to design and deliver intelligent, automated, and user-centric digital workplace solutions that enhance productivity, collaboration, and operational effectiveness across the force. You'll drive the architectural design of workplace services — leveraging AI, automation, and modern digital platforms — to make tools smarter, faster, and easier to use. Your work will directly support frontline policing and public safety.
 
What you'll be doing
• Lead the design and optimisation of digital workplace services
• Identify opportunities to embed AI and automation into workplace services
• Collaborate with IT, business stakeholders, and external partners to deliver scalable, secure, and user-friendly solutions
• Lead the evaluation and adoption of emerging technologies that improve digital employee experience
• Ensure solutions meet accessibility, security, and compliance standards within a policing environment
 
What you'll bring
• Proven experience in digital workplace architecture and solution design
• TOGAF certified or equivalent demonstrable experience
• Experience designing or implementing AI/automation solutions (e.g. Power Platform, Microsoft Copilot, RPA, chatbots)
• Expert-level understanding of Microsoft services with recognised Microsoft certifications
• Strong understanding of AI, automation, and digital service design principles
• A user-first mindset with a passion for simplifying complex systems

Additional information
Successful applicants will be required to pass Management Vetting and Security Clearance (minimum 5 years UK residency required), including full background and financial checks. References will be required covering the past 5 years.
