Supply Desk is delighted to be working in partnership with a welcoming and supportive primary school in Slough to appoint a passionate and enthusiastic Early Career Teacher (ECT) for a KS1 class. This is a fantastic opportunity for a newly qualified teacher to begin their teaching journey in a nurturing environment with excellent support and guidance.

The Role

As a KS1 ECT, you will inspire young learners at a crucial stage in their development, supporting them in building strong foundations in literacy, numeracy, and social skills within a caring and engaging classroom environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver engaging and creative lessons in line with the KS1 national curriculum
  • Support pupils’ early development in reading, writing, phonics, and maths
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and stimulating classroom environment
  • Assess and monitor pupil progress with support from senior staff and mentors
  • Differentiate learning to support pupils of all abilities, including those with SEN
  • Foster pupils’ confidence, curiosity, and love of learning
  • Work closely with teaching assistants and experienced colleagues
  • Build strong relationships with parents, carers, and the wider school community
Requirements
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or pending QTS (ECTs welcome to apply)
  • Passion for teaching and supporting young learners in KS1
  • Good understanding of early learning and phonics (or willingness to develop this)
  • Positive, proactive, and nurturing approach to teaching
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work full-time in the Slough area from September
Desirable
  • Experience from placements within KS1
  • Familiarity with phonics schemes (e.g., Read Write Inc, Letters and Sounds)
  • Understanding of safeguarding and inclusive teaching practices
  • Willingness to learn and develop as part of an ECT programme
