Electrical Design Engineer

I’m recruiting for a hands-on Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join a specialist engineering business supporting the UK’s Continuous At Sea Deterrent programme.

This is a technically senior role with real ownership — not just oversight.

 The Role

• Hands-on electrical system design

• Produce E-Plan / SolidWorks Electrical schematics & wiring drawings

• Generate BOMs & full technical documentation

• Power & control system design (VSDs, motor starters, distribution, PLCs)

• FMEA, safety assessments & reliability analysis

• Ensure full technical & legislative compliance

• Work closely with mechanical engineers for integrated solutions

• Support testing & automation (NI Hardware / LabVIEW desirable)

You’ll be accountable for delivering a compliant, manufacturable solution — from concept through to assembly.

What You’ll Need

• Degree qualified (Electrical Engineering or similar)

• 5+ years within MOD / Marine / Defence / Aerospace

• Strong power & electrical design capability

• Control & Instrumentation experience

• PLC systems (ProfiBus / ProfiNet / TIA Portal)

• Safety & compliance documentation experience

• E-Plan & SolidWorks Electrical (advantageous)

Must be a British National due to project requirements.

Working Hours

• Mon–Thurs: 07:30–16:00

• Fri: 07:30–12:30

• Flexible start 06:30–08:30 / finish 15:00–17:00

• Primarily site-based (engineering team onsite)
