An experienced Electrical Design Engineer is required to take ownership of electrical and control system design across complex industrial projects from concept through to commissioning. This is a varied, technically challenging role offering full project lifecycle exposure within a growing engineering business delivering international projects.

Description

Key responsibilities:

  • Lead electrical design activities across multiple concurrent engineering projects
  • Produce electrical schematics, panel layouts, and wiring diagrams using AutoCAD Electrical
  • Design industrial control systems, MCCs, and power distribution solutions
  • Specify electrical components, instrumentation, and control devices
  • Create and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs)
  • Ensure compliance with IEC, ATEX, UL, and relevant industry standards
  • Support manufacturing, F.A.T testing, and commissioning activities
  • Produce technical documentation including O&M manuals
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering standards and processes

Profile

The successful candidate

  • HNC/HND or Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering (or similar)
  • Proven experience (typically 5+ years) in electrical design within industrial, process, or automation environments
  • Strong experience using AutoCAD Electrical (or similar CAD package)
  • Good knowledge of control panels, MCCs, and power distribution systems
  • Understanding of industrial standards and hazardous area environments (ATEX/IECEx beneficial)
  • Practical awareness of commissioning and installation activities
  • Strong problem-solving ability and communication skills
  • Able to work both independently and within multi-disciplinary engineering teams
