Piper Maddox is supporting a leading UK renewable energy developer with a portfolio and pipeline spanning onshore wind, solar PV, and battery energy storage projects. With over 1GW of projects in development, this company are committed to delivering sustainable infrastructure that supports the UK's transition to a low-carbon economy. Due to continued growth, they are seeking an Electrical Engineer to join their expanding team.

 

The role will be focused on managing the electrical engineering and design for their BESS, wind and Hydrogen projects. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing the grid connection process from origination to project energisation.

 

Role: Electrical Engineer

Location: London

Salary: £60,000 – £70,000

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide electrical engineering expertise throughout the development lifecycle of renewable energy projects, supporting feasibility studies, concept design, and project delivery.
  • Review and approve electrical system designs, including SLDs, protection schemes, earthing designs, and grid connection solutions for wind, solar, battery storage, and hydrogen projects.
  • Manage grid connection activities, acting as the primary interface with DNOs, NESO, and ICPs to secure and progress connection offers through to energisation.
  • Lead ICP tender processes, including defining scope, evaluating submissions, selecting contractors, and ensuring technical compliance.

 

Required Experience

  • Degree-qualified in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline (Master's preferred), or equivalent industry experience.
  • Proven experience supporting the design, development, construction, or grid connection of renewable energy projects, particularly within solar PV, wind, BESS, or similar infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of UK grid connection requirements, including G99/G100 standards, Grid Code compliance, DNO/NESO processes, and the regulatory requirements associated with connecting generation assets.
  • Solid technical knowledge of HV and EHV systems (11kV–400kV), including network design, protection coordination, and electrical system integration.
