Our established client is in a massive growth phase and is looking to supplement the electrical manufacturing team by bringing in an experienced Electrical Engineering Manager to help lead and develop the existing engineers. Commutable from Walsall, Wolverhampton, Stafford, Lichfield, Tamworth, Dudley and Telford.

The Engineering Manager leads the engineering function within an electrical manufacturing business, ensuring the efficient design, safety, and production of high-quality electrical systems and products. The role is responsible for technical leadership, compliance (including machine safety), structured engineering processes, and continuous improvement across design and manufacturing.
 
Key Responsibilities - Electrical Engineering Manager
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team (design, process, test, and manufacturing engineers).
  • Define and execute an engineering strategy aligned with business goals.
  • Drive innovation in electrical systems, product performance, and manufacturability.
  • Oversee design and development of electrical products (e.g., control panels, switchgear, power distribution systems).
  • Ensure compliance with applicable standards (IEC, BS EN, UL, CE/UKCA), including IEC (phone number removed) (Electrical Equipment of Machines).
  • Manage the full product lifecycle from concept, prototyping, validation, and release.
  • Ensure robust design practices including Design for Manufacture (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
  • Collaborate with operations to optimise manufacturing processes and workflows.
  • Lead Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement initiatives.
  • Improve productivity, reduce waste, and enhance quality performance.
  • Ensure effective transition from engineering design to production.
  • Engineering Change Notice (ECN) / Engineering Change Order (ECO) management
  • Document control and revision management (drawings, BOMs, specifications)
  • New Product Introduction (NPI) processes
  • Configuration management
  • Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Lead engineering projects, ensuring delivery on time and within budget.
  • Ensure compliance with HSE requirements and safe engineering practices.
  • Act as technical authority for customers, suppliers, and internal teams.
  • Commercial Support (BOM Creation & Labour Estimation)
 
Essential Skills & Experience - Electrical Engineering Manager
  • Degree (or equivalent) in Electrical Engineering or similar discipline.
  • Proven experience in engineering leadership within electrical manufacturing.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, components, and standards.
  • Experience with machine safety standards and risk assessment processes.
  • Experience managing structured engineering processes (e.g., ECN/ECO systems).
  • Strong leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Familiarity with CAD tools (AutoCAD Electrical, EPLAN) (Desirable).
  • Technical leadership and team development.
  • Strong process discipline (ECN, NPI, document control).
  • Safety and compliance mindset.
  • Continuous improvement focus.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management.
