Electrical Estimator – Thames Valley, Berkshire

Our client, a well-established and growing electrical contractor, is seeking an experienced Electrical Estimator to join their team on a permanent basis. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded professional to play a key role in securing and delivering a variety of exciting electrical projects across the region.

Offering a hybrid working arrangement, this position combines flexibility with the opportunity to work closely alongside a supportive and collaborative team.

The Role

As an Electrical Estimator, you will be responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders, managing the estimating process from initial enquiry through to final submission. Working closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers, and subcontractors, you will help ensure successful project outcomes and contribute to the continued growth of the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare accurate cost estimates for electrical projects.

  • Review drawings, specifications, and project plans to determine project requirements.

  • Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineers to ensure accurate and competitive bids.

  • Source quotations and negotiate with suppliers and subcontractors.

  • Carry out site surveys where required.

  • Manage projects through the estimating process from initial enquiry through to final submission.

  • Produce commercial bids and supporting documentation for approval by the Commercial Review Team.

  • Ensure all tender submissions are completed accurately and within agreed deadlines.

Candidate Requirements

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Proven experience as an Electrical Estimator within the electrical contracting or construction sector.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and estimating software packages.

  • The ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines, budgets, and business objectives.

  • Strong knowledge of electrical systems, codes, regulations, and industry standards.

  • Excellent analytical and numerical skills.

  • Strong communication and organisational abilities.

  • Effective time management and multitasking skills.

  • High attention to detail.

  • The ability to read and interpret specifications, technical drawings, and tender documentation.
