Job Title: Electrical Estimator
Location: North Cambridge
Salary: £60,000 - £75,000
Benefits: Hybrid working 1-2 days from home per week
An established and highly respected Electrical Contractor is looking to recruit an Electrical Estimator to join their growing team based in North Cambridge with the advantage of hybrid working with 1-2 days per week working from home.
The company delivers electrical installations and full project delivery services across a wide range of sectors including Commercial, Industrial, Education and Healthcare. These projects are typically valued up to £2.5m electrically.
As the Electrical Estimator you will play a key role within the pre-construction team, responsible for producing accurate and competitive tenders for a variety of electrical projects throughout East Anglia and the surrounding regions.
As the Electrical Estimator, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Manage the tender process from initial enquiry through to final submission.
- Preparing accurate and competitive electrical tenders using estimating software packages.
- Reviewing tender documentation and identifying project requirements.
- Attend site surveys and pre tender interviews.
- Producing detailed take-offs and cost estimates for labour, materials and subcontractors.
- Evaluate supplier and sub-contract returns to ensure compliance with the tender specification.
- Maintaining and updating cost databases to reflect current market trends, material prices and labour costs ensuring accuracy and competitiveness.
- Provide ongoing assistance to the projects team if requests for the generation of variation costs are received.
- Assisting with cost planning and value engineering opportunities.
Successful applicants will have the following qualifications and experience:
- Overall knowledge and understanding of a wide variety of electrical systems and their installation methods.
- Experience within in a similar position as an Electrical Estimator within the commercial and industrial sector.
- Ability to interpret drawings and technical specifications.
- The ability to work under pressure to meet set deadlines whilst managing multiple tenders.
- The ability to plan, co-ordinate and prioritise tenders.
- Confident communicator.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Experience using estimating software packages preferred.
- Electrical qualifications advantageous.
