We are now looking for an Electronics and Firmware Engineer to join a rapidly growing developer of Optical Systems in Southampton.
Working primarily in an optics laboratory environment you will be developing and delivering optical systems for standard products and bespoke applications.
Reporting to the Team Leader, you will work across the whole design life-cycle of control electronics and firmware for optoelectronic devices ranging from smart modules to full laser systems.
With experience in designing firmware and electronics in product development environment, you will be responsible for the design, development, build and testing of the control electronics and firmware to meet customer specifications.
In addition to design for new products, you will be involved in the design and delivery of other electronic products within the company’s existing products.
Administration duties will include developing and documenting production procedures, and training production staff on procedures.

Qualifications:
A Degree in Electronics or similar discipline; or alternatively, equivalent knowledge and experience gained through working in a similar industry will be considered.
An understanding of the fundamentals of Analog and Digital Electronics is required.
Experience:
Experience in a similar role, where you can demonstrate a proficiency in firmware and electronics design including digital, and microprocessor technologies is required.
Experience of low noise analogue electronics design, particularly for optoelectronics is required.
A proficiency in C and/or C++, coupled with experience developing embedded systems and writing firmware for microcontrollers (e.g. PICs, AVR, STM32).
Additional Information:
Candidates MUST be eligible to work and live in the UK, without ever requiring sponsorship. Copies of Visa and Passport will be requested for verification.
Salary / benefits: c£40-50k, plus benefits
