Electrotechnical Technician – Heathrow Airport
£45,000 – £50,000 DOE
Monday to Friday

We are seeking an experienced Electrotechnical Technician to join a growing technical services team supporting specialist airport infrastructure systems across London airports.

This is a hands-on field-based role focused on the installation, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electromechanical and automated systems within a highly regulated airport environment.

Electrotechnical Technician Key Responsibilities:

Installation & Commissioning

  • Install and commission electrical and electromechanical systems
  • Perform configuration, adjustment, and functional testing
  • Carry out operational validation and system checks
  • Ensure compliance with airport and safety regulations

Electrotechnical Technician Maintenance & Fault Finding

  • Perform preventative and reactive maintenance
  • Diagnose electrical, mechanical, and automation faults
  • Work on systems including:
  • 400Hz power distribution systems
  • Industrial HVAC / PCA systems
  • Ensure high levels of system reliability and uptime

Automation & Control

  • Work with PLC/control systems (Siemens, Schneider, etc.)
  • Configure and optimise automation systems
  • Inspect and test sensors, actuators, and interfaces

Operational & Customer Support

  • Provide technical support to airport operations teams
  • Train on-site users where required
  • Act as the technical point of contact for clients and partners

Reporting & Documentation

  • Complete service and intervention reports
  • Maintain maintenance traceability records
  • Report incidents and suggest continuous improvements

Electrotechnical Technician Requirements:

✔ Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems (LV/HV)
✔ Experience with power distribution and industrial HVAC/PCA systems
✔ Knowledge of PLC and automation systems
✔ Ability to read electrical, mechanical, and P&ID drawings
✔ Strong multi-disciplinary fault-finding skills
✔ Previous industrial maintenance or technical service experience
✔ Airport or GSE experience advantageous

Electrotechnical Technician Personal Skills:

  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Comfortable working in operational airport environments
  • Able to respond effectively under pressure

Electrotechnical Technician Qualifications:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering, Industrial Maintenance, Automation, or related discipline
