We are working with a welcoming secondary school in Downe, Kent seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Teacher of English – 2iC to join their successful department. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious teacher looking to take the next step in their career, supporting the leadership of the department while inspiring students through engaging and high-quality English lessons across KS3–KS4.

Role Overview:

  • Teach English across KS3–KS4 (KS5 desirable)
  • Support the Head of English in leading and developing the department
  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons that promote a love of reading, writing, and literature
  • Monitor student progress and implement strategies to raise achievement
  • Contribute to curriculum development, assessment, and departmental initiatives
  • Support colleagues through collaboration, coaching, and sharing best practice
  • Encourage participation in extracurricular English activities and enrichment opportunities
  • Maintain a positive and inclusive learning environment

About You:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
  • Experience teaching English at secondary level
  • Ability to support departmental leadership and drive high standards of teaching and learning
  • Strong classroom management and organisational skills
  • Passionate about high-quality teaching and student achievement
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply)
