Supply Desk is working in partnership with a supportive and highly regarded secondary school in Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire, to recruit a dedicated and passionate English Teacher for a September start.
This role is ideal for an English specialist who is enthusiastic about literature and language, confident in delivering engaging and thought-provoking lessons, and committed to helping pupils develop strong communication, analytical, and creative writing skills.
The RoleAs an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, inspiring a love for reading and writing while supporting pupil progress in both language and literature.
Key Responsibilities- Planning and delivering engaging English Language and English Literature lessons in line with the National Curriculum
- Teaching a range of texts including prose, poetry, and drama, fostering critical thinking and interpretation
- Preparing students for assessments and GCSE English Language & Literature
- Creating a positive, inclusive, and well-managed classroom environment
- Assessing pupil progress and providing clear, constructive feedback
- Differentiating lessons to support a range of abilities and learning needs
- Maintaining high expectations for behaviour, engagement, and achievement
- Supporting literacy development across the curriculum where appropriate
- Working collaboratively with the English department and wider school staff
- Building positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
- Experience teaching English at secondary level (KS3 and/or KS4)
- (ECTs welcome with relevant teaching placements)
- Strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature
- Confident classroom and behaviour management skills
- An engaging, enthusiastic, and supportive teaching style
- Commitment to raising attainment and supporting student progress
- Availability to start in September
- Ability to commute to Beaconsfield, Buckinghamshire
- Pay in line with MPS/UPS, dependent on experience
