Executive Headteacher – Secondary SEMH School

Twickenham, South West London

Location: Twickenham, Greater London
Salary: £85,000 - £110,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
Contract: Full Time, Permanent
Start Date: September 2026

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly motivated Executive Headteacher to lead a well-established specialist secondary SEMH school in Twickenham.

This role would suit an outstanding educational leader with a proven background in SEND, SEMH, Alternative Provision, or specialist education who is committed to delivering exceptional outcomes for young people with complex social, emotional, behavioural, and mental health needs.

Working closely with governors, senior leaders, and external stakeholders, you will provide strategic direction and operational oversight while maintaining a nurturing, therapeutic, and ambitious learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the strategic development and continuous improvement of the school.
  • Foster a culture of high expectations, inclusion, and achievement.
  • Develop and support an exceptional leadership and teaching team.
  • Ensure outstanding safeguarding, behaviour, attendance, and wellbeing practices.
  • Monitor and improve academic progress and destination outcomes.
  • Strengthen relationships with local authorities, commissioners, families, and external agencies.
  • Drive a trauma-informed and restorative approach across the provision.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Extensive senior leadership experience within education.
  • Strong background in SEMH, SEND, Alternative Provision, or specialist settings.
  • Experience leading school improvement initiatives and managing change.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning skills.
  • Passion for supporting vulnerable young people to achieve their full potential.
