Are you passionate about supporting young children during the most important stages of their development?
Long Term Futures are recruiting for a caring and enthusiastic EYFS Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming primary school in Kings Heath, Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a nurturing Early Years setting, supporting children as they develop key social, emotional and academic skills.
The role will involve a combination of whole-class support, small group interventions and targeted SEN support, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with a variety of learners. You will play an important role in helping pupils develop their early communication, literacy and numeracy skills, while also supporting children who require additional assistance to access learning and engage positively with their peers.
The Role
- Support teaching and learning within Nursery or Reception classes
- Assist with the delivery of engaging, play-based learning activities
- Deliver targeted small group interventions in phonics, literacy and early numeracy
- Provide support for pupils with SEN, including ASD, communication needs and developmental delays
- Support early literacy, phonics and numeracy activities across the classroom
- Help pupils develop social, communication and independence skills
- Assist with classroom routines, transitions and behaviour management
- Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt support and monitor progress
- Create a positive, inclusive and nurturing learning environment where all children can thrive
The Ideal Candidate
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (desirable)
- Previous experience working within an EYFS setting
- Strong understanding of child development and the EYFS framework
- Experience supporting phonics and early learning activities
- Some experience supporting pupils with SEN or additional needs
- Patient, nurturing and enthusiastic approach
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Ability to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents
