Fabrication Projects Engineer

Location: Huthwaite (flexibility for candidates in the Wakefield / Pontefract region)

We’re looking for a proactive and collaborative Fabrication Projects Engineer (internally known as Contracts Engineer). You’ll take ownership of fabrication access metalwork projects across clean and wastewater schemes for major Water companies, working with colleagues, clients, and suppliers to deliver safe, high‑quality, and cost‑effective solutions from design through to completion.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Lead engineering activities from concept through to completion, working closely with site installation and workshop teams.
  • Manage multiple projects, ensuring delivery is safe, on time, and within budget.
  • Build strong client and stakeholder relationships, contributing to KPIs and project objectives.
  • Attend and contribute to internal and external progress meetings.
  • Conduct site visits and surveys to inform design development.
  • Produce designs, drawings, and sketches in line with legislation and standards.
  • Support preparation of estimates, quotations, and contract documentation.
  • Develop and maintain project documentation, including RAMS, ITPs, and project records.
  • Oversee health, safety, and environmental performance on site.
  • Coordinate suppliers, subcontractors, and internal teams for smooth delivery.
  • Manage procurement of materials and subcontract services.
  • Monitor contract finances, including variations, P&L, and final accounts, and compile final documentation (e.g. as-builts, CE records).

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience in fabrication and/or engineering.
  • Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and project management software.
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD or similar design tools.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills with a team-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage time, prioritise workloads, and work across multiple sites.
  • Self-motivated, organised, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
