Are you a seeking a skilled Facilities / Project Engineer looking to deliver defined engineering outputs on a major defence project? This is an amazing opportunity to support safe and compliant decommissioning across A1, A50, and OWMG facilities! This is a task-based role focused on resolving operational engineering issues, delivering asset improvement activities, and bridging facility engineering with project delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Critical Asset Identification:

  • Identify and define minimum critical asset sets required to support decommissioning.
  • Develop asset baselines and system dependencies to subsystem level (e.g., electrical panels, utilities, controls).
  • Enhance and utilise existing baseline information efficiently.

Critical Asset RAG Assessment:

  • Assign RAG status to all critical assets based on availability, reliability, spares, obsolescence, failure mechanisms, remaining life, structural integrity, and operational impact.
  • Provide justification, assumptions, and key risks for each rating.

Improvement Actions:

  • Define proportionate maintenance, repair, refurbishment, spares strategies, modifications, replacements, or simplifications (including COTS adoption) for Amber/Red and key Green assets.
  • Apply safe, pragmatic, and delivery-focused engineering solutions.
  • Define recommended interventions, timescales, and delivery owners.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Strong experience in mechanical or C&I engineering, preferably within nuclear, defence, or regulated industrial environments.
  • Proven track record in asset identification, improvement planning, and operational support.
  • Experience performing RAG assessments, risk analysis, and system reliability evaluations.
  • Ability to define and implement pragmatic engineering solutions for operational assets.
  • Strong organisational, planning, and communication skills.
  • Experience working with cross-disciplinary teams to deliver complex projects.

Desirable:

  • Experience with decommissioning or lifecycle management of critical facilities.
  • Knowledge of UK nuclear safety and operational regulations.
