Our client, a leading provider of integrated facilities management and infrastructure solutions is hiring for an experienced Facilities Manager to oversee the delivery of hard FM services across a key Defence site at Benson Barracks, with occasional support required at Dalton Barracks.
This is a hands-on management role leading a team of 12 multi-disciplinary engineers delivering planned and reactive maintenance services across the estate. You’ll be responsible for ensuring operational performance, compliance, and service excellence, while managing health & safety, audits, recruitment, and small quoted works/projects on site.
The successful candidate will bring strong facilities management experience within a hard services environment and be confident managing internal engineering teams in a fast-paced, customer-focused setting. A technical background in either electrical or mechanical disciplines would be highly advantageous, although we are open to candidates with strong FM leadership experience who may not hold formal technical qualifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage a team of 12 multi-disciplinary engineers delivering self-performed hard FM services
- Oversee delivery of planned preventative maintenance and reactive works in line with SFG20 requirements
- Ensure compliance with health & safety legislation, statutory obligations, and contract standards
- Carry out audits, inspections, and assurance activities across the site
- Manage recruitment, performance management, development, and overall team capability
- Oversee small works projects and quoted works from planning through to completion
- Monitor service delivery performance against KPIs and SLAs
- Build strong working relationships with key stakeholders and site customers
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a Facilities Manager or Hard FM management role
- Experience leading multi-disciplinary engineering teams within a self-delivery model
- Strong understanding of hard FM compliance, statutory maintenance, and SFG20
- Knowledge of health & safety legislation and safe systems of work
- Experience managing audits, compliance reporting, and contractor performance
- IOSH qualification or equivalent desirable
- Technical qualifications in electrical or mechanical disciplines advantageous but not essential
- Strong communication, organisational, and stakeholder management skills
