Main purpose of Job: •    Meet and greet families into the Children’s Centre/Family Hub and provide advice, support, and signposting to the relevant support service to meet their needs, making necessary referrals when needed.

•    The facilitation and delivery of support groups and other    activities for families with young children, in accordance with recognised early intervention and prevention strategies.

Main Accountabilities: 

To facilitate and deliver support groups, workshops, and other activities for families with young children accessing a range of services through the Children’s Centres/Family Hubs.

To initiate play and learning activities for parents and children together and to role model good practice for parents in relation to the care of children, this should include promotion of the home learning environment and consider the locality and emerging trends.

  1. To understand the needs of children with special educational needs and be able to take the appropriate actions to support them.

  1. To take responsibility in accordance with the Children’s Centre/Family Hub priorities for planning and delivery of activities for children/young people and their families. Considering health and safety procedures, provision of refreshments, cleaning routines and record keeping, and to ensure that resources are used cost-effectively.

  1. To signpost families with young children to a wide range of other services provided in the local area, making introductions when necessary and working with partner agencies to provide up-to-date and relevant information to those families.

  1. To contribute to the development and implementation of initiatives within the Children’s Centre/ Family Hub that support good behaviour, good health, and emotional wellbeing. 

  1. To uphold and promote the setting’s policies on equalities and inclusion and to implement all other of the settings’ policies and procedures.

  1. To support effective relationships and networks with other agencies including police, social care, Early Help, housing and community and voluntary organisations. 

  1. To help promote the setting with parents, local schools, other childcare settings and to assist with marketing activities.

  1. To consult and involve parent/carers in service developments.

  1. To work in partnership with the early years Manager/Deputy from the centre and staff from schools, including childminders, to deliver multi-agency services to parents and children in the local neighbourhood.

  1. To attend training, planning and staff meetings as required. These maybe of an evening or weekend. 

  1. To undertake administrative tasks and reception cover to ensure the delivery of services. 

  1. To perform any other duties that may become necessary to ensure the successful delivery of service, this includes working at any of the Children’s Centres/family hubs across Slough.
