Field Service Engineer

Are you a hands-on engineer who enjoys variety, problem-solving, and working in the field? We are seeking a Field Service Engineer to join a growing team, providing expert servicing, maintenance, and repair of specialist UK-manufactured equipment. This is a dynamic, customer-facing role where no two days are the same—ranging from fault diagnosis and repair to ensuring equipment operates at optimal performance.

Purpose of the Role

To deliver high-quality onsite and workshop-based service and support, ensuring machinery is maintained, repaired, and presented to the highest possible standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out servicing and repair work both onsite and within a workshop environment across a range of equipment.
  • Liaise directly with customers across sectors such as agriculture, construction, utilities, telecommunications, and ground care.
  • Work across pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.
  • Conduct testing and fault-finding activities with a high level of attention to detail to ensure equipment meets inspection standards.
  • Assemble and prepare components for dispatch, including completion of pre-delivery inspection documentation.
  • Accurately complete job reports, including detailed repair descriptions and parts used.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked service vehicle.

Collaboration

Work closely with internal teams to support the smooth operation of aftersales and service delivery.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Background in agricultural, plant, or commercial engineering.
  • Experience using hydraulic, electrical, and manual tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Effective team player with the ability to contribute to efficient workflow and productivity.
  • A strong sense of ownership and responsibility.
  • Ability to work accurately under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • A proactive approach to continuous improvement and process efficiency.

Desirable Qualifications & Experience

  • Level 3 (or equivalent) qualification in agricultural, plant, or commercial engineering.
  • Experience with cranes and relevant loader certification.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems and environmental considerations.
  • Experience or accreditation relating to lifting operations regulations.
