An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Field Service Engineer to join a growing high-technology engineering business that designs and manufactures advanced scientific and research equipment used by leading organisations across the world.
Due to continued growth, the business is looking to strengthen its engineering team with the addition of a Field Service Engineer. This is a varied, hands-on role that combines testing, commissioning, customer support, product development and international travel.
Working closely with production, engineering, sales and R&D teams, you will play a key role in ensuring complex electro-mechanical systems are delivered, installed and supported to the highest standards.
The RoleAs a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for preparing, testing, commissioning and supporting highly engineered equipment. The role offers the opportunity to travel extensively, visiting customer sites across Europe, North America, Asia and other international locations to install systems, provide training and deliver technical support.
Alongside customer-facing activities, you will also support production operations, factory acceptance testing and new product development projects.
Key Responsibilities- Supporting production teams with system preparation and final assembly activities
- Performing factory acceptance testing and system verification
- Installing and commissioning equipment at customer sites worldwide
- Delivering customer training and technical demonstrations
- Providing after-sales service and technical support
- Diagnosing faults and implementing effective solutions
- Maintaining accurate service and test records
- Liaising directly with customers to coordinate site visits and installation requirements
- Reviewing and updating test procedures, technical documentation and standard operating procedures
- Providing technical input and support to commercial teams
- Supporting research and development activities and new product introduction projects
You will be a practical and motivated Field Service Engineer who enjoys problem-solving and working with complex equipment. You will be comfortable working independently, interacting with customers and travelling internationally as part of the role.
Essential Requirements- Qualification in an Engineering, Physics, Electronics or Science-related discipline, or equivalent industry experience
- Strong electro-mechanical fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
- Positive attitude with a proactive and self-motivated approach
- Excellent communication and customer-facing abilities
- Strong organisational and record-keeping skills
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Willingness to undertake national and international travel (approximately 50% of the role)
- Experience working with scientific, laboratory or research equipment
- Equipment installation, commissioning or maintenance experience
- Technical customer support experience
- Electrical or electronics engineering knowledge
- Experience working within a manufacturing or R&D environment
- Familiarity with test procedures, quality systems and technical documentation
