We are currently looking to recruit an experienced Finishing Foreman to join a busy residential housing development in Wigan. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with an established and growing contractor on a well-managed new build housing site.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing the final stages of the build programme, ensuring all homes are completed to a high standard, within programme deadlines, and ready for customer handover and NHBC inspections. We are looking for someone with a strong eye for detail, excellent organisational skills, and previous experience delivering quality finishing works on volume housing developments.
Candidates with a joinery or multi-skilled trades background would be highly desirable due to the hands-on nature of the role, although this is not essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and coordinate all finishing trades across multiple plots
- Ensure all properties are completed in line with drawings, specifications, and company quality standards
- Carry out snagging inspections and oversee defect rectification works
- Monitor workmanship and maintain high-quality finishes throughout the development
- Supervise subcontractors and direct labour on site
- Ensure all health & safety procedures are adhered to at all times
- Liaise with the Site Manager, Project Manager, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure smooth delivery of the project
- Ensure plots are completed on time for client handovers and NHBC/building control inspections
- Maintain accurate site records, progress updates, and reports where required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Finishing Foreman within new build residential housing
- Strong understanding of finishing works, snagging, and quality control procedures
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Ability to manage multiple trades and work to tight deadlines
- SMSTS or SSSTS certification preferred
- Valid CSCS Card essential
- Proactive approach with strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability
- A joinery or multi-trade background would be highly advantageous, although not essential
