About the Role

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Food Technology Teacher to join the supportive and forward-thinking team at Lightcliffe School in Halifax. This is a full-time position ideal for a teacher who is enthusiastic about inspiring students through practical learning, nutrition education, creativity, and innovation within the Food Technology curriculum.

The successful candidate will deliver engaging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, helping students develop confidence, independence, and essential culinary skills in a safe and engaging learning environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver high-quality Food Technology lessons that engage and challenge students.
  • Teach across Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 (KS5 experience desirable but not essential).
  • Support students in developing practical cooking skills, nutritional knowledge, and food preparation techniques.
  • Assess, monitor, and track student progress, providing constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a safe, hygienic, and organised kitchen/classroom environment in line with health and safety regulations.
  • Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment opportunities within the department.
The Ideal Candidate
  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Has experience teaching Food Technology in a secondary school setting.
  • Demonstrates strong subject knowledge in food preparation, nutrition, and health and safety practices.
  • Is passionate about practical learning and student achievement.
  • Has strong classroom management and communication skills.
  • Works well as part of a collaborative team.
