Brook Street Recruitment is delighted to be partnering with a well-established and growing freight forwarding company in Belfast to recruit a Freight Operations Coordinator on a full-time, permanent basis.

The Role


As a Freight Operations Coordinator, you will play a key role in supporting and managing the day-to-day activities of the Freight Forwarding Department. You will work closely with customers, suppliers, and colleagues to ensure shipments are handled efficiently from booking through to delivery.
This position is ideal for an organised and customer-focused individual who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment and takes pride in delivering excellent service.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accept and process freight bookings, ensuring all shipment details are accurate and up to date.
  • Monitor shipments throughout the transport process, making adjustments and resolving issues as required.
  • Coordinate global freight forwarding operations, including container transport via Belfast Port and occasional Dublin Port activity.
  • Liaise with customers, subcontractors, and service providers to ensure smooth and efficient shipment movement.
  • Prepare and process invoices accurately and within required time frames.
  • Maintain filing systems and complete general administrative duties.
  • Provide proactive customer support and resolve operational issues efficiently.
Candidate Requirements
  • Previous experience in a freight forwarding, logistics, or transport operations role is advantageous.
  • Knowledge of road freight, ocean freight, short sea container services, imports, exports, LCL, groupage, and air freight would be highly desirable.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills, with the ability to build strong working relationships.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capability to react quickly and effectively to operational challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a busy team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and confidence in learning new software systems.
  • Positive, proactive, and flexible approach to work.
  • Customs experience would be beneficial but is not essential.
