The role

As a Functional Consultant, you will be a subject matter expert in one or more IT platforms and associated business processes, providing technical advice, recommendations and insights into the design, operation and enhancement of our core platforms. The Functional Consultant will help drive our business teams to improve efficiency, streamline operations, and achieve strategic goals through tailored system configurations.

This is an agile working role with roughly twice per month working from our Coventry office (subject to business need). This role is part of Technology & Information where you'll help us give colleagues the infrastructure, support and insight they need to be brilliant.

What you'll achieve

Delivery Management:

• Collaborating with Transformation, Technology & Data teams to design, document, and implement robust functional solutions aligned to business needs
• Translating requirements into clear functional specifications, ensuring solutions are feasible, scalable, and aligned with enterprise architecture
• Acting as a technical escalation point for troubleshooting complex system issues, ensuring timely resolution and minimal operational disruption
• Building capability within the team by delivering training, guidance, and knowledge sharing to colleague

Change Management:

• Identifying opportunities to further exploit platform capabilities and improve business outcomes through optimisation and innovation
• Communicating these opportunities clearly to senior stakeholders, translating technical possibilities into business benefits
• Ensuring change is delivered in a structured, transparent manner with clear communication, governance, and stakeholder buy-in

Stakeholder Management

• Establishing long-term partnerships with key stakeholders to support both service delivery and strategic initiatives
• Acting as a bridge between business and technology teams, ensuring clear communication and shared understanding of requirements and outcomes
• Influencing stakeholders through insight, expertise, and credible recommendations to support decision-making

What you'll bring

Essential skills

• Strong functional and technical expertise in Dynamics 365 CE (Customer Engagement) and associated third-party integrations, enabling effective solution design and troubleshooting
• Proven experience delivering technology change initiatives, with the ability to manage complexity and deliver outcomes in structured environments
• Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at multiple organisational levels
• Experience working in Agile delivery models and CI/CD environments, demonstrating an understanding of iterative development, automation, and continuous improvement
• Basic understanding of data modelling, reporting, and analytics, including experience supporting insight generation for business users (e.g. dashboards, KPIs)

Desirable skills

• Knowledge of Housing Management Systems and wider social housing sector platforms, enabling quicker contextual understanding and impact assessment
• Relevant Microsoft or technology certifications, demonstrating formal expertise and commitment to continuous professional development
• Familiarity with Power Platform, Azure, and broader cloud technologies to support modern, scalable solution design
• Familiarity with release pipelines, environment management (e.g. Dev/Test/Prod), and controlled deployments within CI/CD frameworks
• Knowledge of AI / automation opportunities within Microsoft ecosystem (Copilot, intelligent automation, etc.)
