A leading provider of temporary and standby power solutions is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join its growing operation in Grays, Thurrock. Supporting customers across a range of industries, the business has established a strong reputation for delivering reliable power generation equipment and exceptional service standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to join a busy depot operation and play a key role in maintaining, servicing and repairing generators both on customer sites and within the depot environment. The role is predominantly field-based and offers a varied workload, excellent benefits and long-term career development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on generators both on-site and within the depot.
  • Diagnose and rectify faults on control panels, AC/DC electrical systems and associated equipment.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to ensure equipment remains operational and compliant.
  • Undertake genset synchronisation activities where required.
  • Complete service reports, PDI documentation and all associated maintenance paperwork accurately.
  • Liaise directly with customers, providing a professional and customer-focused service.
  • Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects to ensure roadworthiness.
  • Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota, including Bank Holidays.
  • Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures and industry standards.
Essential Requirements
  • NVQ in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
  • Previous experience within the generator, power generation or plant hire industry.
  • Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and manage service schedules effectively.
  • Full UK driving licence held for a minimum of three years.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • Proactive attitude and commitment to delivering high service standards.
