A leading provider of temporary and standby power solutions is seeking an experienced Field Service Engineer to join its growing operation in Grays, Thurrock. Supporting customers across a range of industries, the business has established a strong reputation for delivering reliable power generation equipment and exceptional service standards.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled engineer to join a busy depot operation and play a key role in maintaining, servicing and repairing generators both on customer sites and within the depot environment. The role is predominantly field-based and offers a varied workload, excellent benefits and long-term career development opportunities.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on generators both on-site and within the depot.
- Diagnose and rectify faults on control panels, AC/DC electrical systems and associated equipment.
- Perform mechanical and electrical repairs to ensure equipment remains operational and compliant.
- Undertake genset synchronisation activities where required.
- Complete service reports, PDI documentation and all associated maintenance paperwork accurately.
- Liaise directly with customers, providing a professional and customer-focused service.
- Conduct daily vehicle inspections and report any defects to ensure roadworthiness.
- Participate in an out-of-hours on-call rota, including Bank Holidays.
- Ensure all work is completed in accordance with company Health & Safety procedures and industry standards.
- NVQ in Plant Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
- Previous experience within the generator, power generation or plant hire industry.
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills across mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to prioritise workloads and manage service schedules effectively.
- Full UK driving licence held for a minimum of three years.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team with minimal supervision.
