Overview

Complete Classroom Services are seeking a passionate and dedicated Geography Teacher to join a thriving Humanities department on a full-time, permanent basis at an Ofsted-rated “Outstanding” coeducational independent secondary school.

The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and rigorous Geography lessons across Key Stage 3/4 GCSE, and depending on experience, Key Stage 5 (A-Level), inspiring students to develop a deep understanding of physical and human geography, as well as global environmental and societal issues.”

Key Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver high-quality Geography lessons across KS3 and KS4 (GCSE).
  • Teach a broad and balanced Geography curriculum, ensuring progression and challenge for all learners.
  • Prepare students effectively for GCSE examinations, supporting strong outcomes and progress.
  • Use a range of teaching strategies to engage, motivate, and inspire students.
  • Assess, track, and report on student progress in line with school policies.
  • Maintain excellent classroom management and promote a positive learning environment.
  • Contribute to curriculum development within the Humanities department.
  • Participate in school life, including enrichment activities, fieldwork, and extra-curricular opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues to share best practice and raise attainment.

Person Specification

Essential

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Degree in Geography or a closely related subject.
  • Strong subject knowledge across KS3 and GCSE Geography.
  • Ability to deliver engaging, well-structured lessons that support progress.
  • High expectations of student achievement and behaviour.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.

Desirable

  • Experience teaching GCSE Geography.
  • Experience within an independent or high-performing school setting.
  • Ability to contribute to fieldwork and extracurricular Geography opportunities.
  • Experience of using data to inform planning and intervention.
