Roles: Goods In Inspectors
Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire
Duration: Both temporary and permanent roles available
Salary: Up to £15/hour
Working Hours: 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Goods In Inspector to join our quality team. The successful candidate will be responsible for inspecting incoming materials and components to ensure they meet specified quality requirements before being released for production.
Previous Goods In Inspection experience is preferred. We welcome candidates from a variety of manufacturing or engineering backgrounds who possess strong inspection skills, attention to detail, and a quality-focused mindset.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform inspection of incoming goods, materials, and components against drawings, specifications, and quality standards.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
- Conduct dimensional inspections using measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other inspection tools.
- Record inspection results accurately and maintain inspection documentation.
- Identify and report non-conforming materials and support containment activities when required.
- Work closely with Quality, Purchasing, and Production teams to resolve supplier quality issues.
- Ensure all inspections are completed in accordance with company procedures and quality requirements.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives within the quality function.
Requirements
- Previous Goods In Inspection or Quality Inspection experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
- Experience using measuring and inspection equipment to verify dimensions and product conformity.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good communication and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to work independently and make sound quality-based decisions.
Desirable
- Experience within manufacturing is beneficial but not required.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and inspection processes.
- Familiarity with non-conformance reporting and corrective action procedures.

The ideal candidate will have a strong quality mindset and a practical approach to inspection. Industry background is less important than the ability to interpret drawings, take accurate measurements, identify potential quality concerns, and ensure that incoming materials meet the required standards.
