Student Support Officer - Corby

Pay: £95-£100 per day (dependent on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming secondary school in Corby that is seeking a dedicated Student Support Officer to join their pastoral team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a future career in teaching and looking to gain meaningful experience within a secondary school before progressing onto a PGCE, SCITT, School Direct, or other teacher training pathway.

As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom, helping them overcome social, emotional, behavioural, and attendance-related barriers to learning. Working closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff, and senior leaders, you will gain valuable insight into school life while developing the skills needed for a successful career in education.



What You'll Be Doing:

  • Supporting students with emotional, behavioural, attendance, or wellbeing challenges on a 1:1 and small-group basis

  • Building positive and trusting relationships that encourage engagement, resilience, and self-confidence

  • Working alongside pastoral leaders, teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement targeted interventions

  • Supporting behaviour management and restorative approaches across the school

  • Monitoring attendance and punctuality and supporting strategies to improve engagement

  • Liaising with parents and carers where appropriate to support positive outcomes

  • Contributing to safeguarding procedures and promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment



What We're Looking For:

  • A degree in any subject area (essential)

  • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education

  • Experience working with young people through mentoring, tutoring, coaching, youth work, volunteering, or similar settings

  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills

  • A calm, empathetic, and professional approach when supporting students

  • The ability to remain resilient and adaptable in a busy school environment
