Student Support Officer - Corby

Pay: £95-£100 per day (dependent on experience)

Tradewind Recruitment is working with a welcoming secondary school in Corby that is seeking a dedicated Student Support Officer to join their pastoral team from September 2026. This is an excellent opportunity for graduates considering a future career in teaching and looking to gain meaningful experience within a secondary school before progressing onto a PGCE, SCITT, School Direct, or other teacher training pathway.
As a Student Support Officer, you will play a key role in supporting students both inside and outside of the classroom, helping them overcome social, emotional, behavioural, and attendance-related barriers to learning. Working closely with pastoral leaders, teaching staff, and senior leaders, you will gain valuable insight into school life while developing the skills needed for a successful career in education.
What You'll Be Doing:
Supporting students with emotional, behavioural, attendance, or wellbeing challenges on a 1:1 and small-group basis
Building positive and trusting relationships that encourage engagement, resilience, and self-confidence
Working alongside pastoral leaders, teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to implement targeted interventions
Supporting behaviour management and restorative approaches across the school
Monitoring attendance and punctuality and supporting strategies to improve engagement
Liaising with parents and carers where appropriate to support positive outcomes
Contributing to safeguarding procedures and promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment
What We're Looking For:
A degree in any subject area (essential)
A genuine interest in pursuing a career in teaching or education
Experience working with young people through mentoring, tutoring, coaching, youth work, volunteering, or similar settings
Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
A calm, empathetic, and professional approach when supporting students
The ability to remain resilient and adaptable in a busy school environment
