Role purpose
A fantastic opportunity to join an exciting new project, developed through successful business growth and delivered in partnership with a group of expert organisations. The project is focused on raising awareness of the harms associated with gaming and gambling through community based interventions with both young people and adults.

This partnership includes Citizens Advice, two gaming/gambling related harms specialist organisations, people with lived experience of GRH and an academic partner working collaboratively with VCSE organisations who engage with young people and adults in the community.

This role focuses on delivering prevention and early intervention presentations to raise awareness of gaming and gambling related harms among at risk community groups. It aims to reduce health inequalities by improving how affected young people and adults can proactively access appropriate support and treatment services.

About the role
A team of paid and volunteer community based workers will deliver specially designed presentations to young people and adult groups across Dudley Borough and the City of Wolverhampton. This initial two years, community based role will focus on engaging with and delivering pre-prepared stand-up presentations to young people’s and adult community groups across Dudley Borough and the City of Wolverhampton. The post holder will typically deliver multiple sessions per week to groups of up to 10 people, targeting communities where there is an increased risk of gambling-related harm. This will include areas of higher deprivation and other vulnerable groups.

The purpose of the presentations delivered in this role is to raise awareness across communities of the harms related to gambling and how to access further support if needed.

For this role, you will need the following personal skills/qualities:

•    Personal or professional experience of gaming/gambling related harms and/or supporting someone who has lived/living experience of gaming/gambling related harms (please note lived experience of GRH is particularly desirable for this position)
•    Enjoy standing up and presenting to groups of people (young people and adults) to deliver the expert-led presentations purposefully created that we will train you to deliver
•    Be charismatic and engaging in how you deliver information to groups of young people and adults
•    Be empathetic and compassionate

The post is subject to an enhanced DBS check, undertaken and funded by the employer, confirming suitability to work with children/young people and vulnerable adults in the community.
