Location: Wetherby

Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:00am – 6:00pm (with rota-based call-out including nights and weekends)
Jackson Hogg are delighted to be partnering with a growing haulage business in Wetherby, as they look to appoint an experienced Transport Planner to join their expanding team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a driven logistics professional to play a vital role in ensuring efficient, compliant, and cost-effective transport operations within a fast-paced environment.
Role Overview
As a Logistics Transport Planner, you will be responsible for bridging the gap between customer demand and delivery execution. Working as part of a team, you will ensure optimal fleet utilisation while maintaining strict compliance with legal, safety, and operational standards.
Key Responsibilities
Route & Schedule Planning
- Develop daily and weekly transport plans for company vehicles and subcontractors
- Ensure timely and efficient deliveries in line with customer requirements
Resource Allocation
- Assign drivers and vehicles to routes based on load requirements and operational constraints
- Maximise utilisation of fleet and subcontractor resources
Live Operations Monitoring
- Track vehicle movements in real time using TMS and telematics systems
- Proactively adjust plans to manage delays, breakdowns, and last-minute customer changes
Compliance Management
- Ensure all transport activities comply with UK Working Time Directive, driver hours, and tachograph regulations
- Maintain adherence to Operator Licence (O-Licence) requirements and road safety standards
Stakeholder Coordination
- Act as the key point of contact for drivers
- Liaise effectively with warehouse teams, customer service, and external partners
- Ensure clear communication across all stakeholders
Data & Reporting
- Use Transport Management Systems (TMS) and telematics to monitor operations
- Maintain accurate records and support KPI reporting (e.g., fuel efficiency, empty running, delivery performance)
Requirements & Skills
- Strong experience in transport planning within general haulage and knowledge of backhauling
- Proven track record within a logistics or fleet environment
- High proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
- Strong understanding of UK transport legislation, tachograph regulations, and compliance requirements
- Excellent geographical knowledge of the UK road network
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to remain calm under pressure
- Clear communication and organisational skills
