Our client, a leading provider of facilities services in the UK, is seeking a Head Chef to lead a busy on-site restaurant within a manufacturing environment. The operation serves between 230 and 290 customers per day across breakfast and lunch services.

The role operates Monday to Friday and delivers a full English breakfast alongside a structured lunch offer, complemented by grab-and-go and vending services. This is a hands-on leadership role within a fast-paced, high-volume catering operation.

Job Overview

The Head Chef will take full responsibility for the day-to-day kitchen and catering operation, leading from the front to ensure consistently high standards of food quality, service and compliance. The role requires a strong operational presence combined with effective leadership and team development.

There is a strong emphasis on organisation, planning and commercial control, with responsibility for menu planning, stock management and cost control to support both service excellence and profitability.

Key Responsibilities

  • Organise and control all aspects of the kitchen and catering operation
  • Lead, supervise and support the kitchen team in daily food production
  • Deliver a high-quality breakfast and lunch offer in line with agreed menus
  • Plan menus and food production in line with budgets and client requirements
  • Order food and manage suppliers in line with nominated supply chains
  • Ensure all food is prepared and presented to agreed company and client standards
  • Maintain effective stock control and minimise waste
  • Ensure full compliance with food safety, company and statutory regulations

Person Specification

  • Previous experience as a Head Chef or Chef Manager, or a Chef ready to step up
  • Strong background in hospitality food production
  • Ability to work unsupervised and take full ownership of the catering operation
  • Sound knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards
  • Clean, well-presented and professional approach
  • Pleasant, engaging and effective team leadership style
  • Reliable, committed and hands-on attitude
