Interim Head of ASC Operations

Are you looking for the next step in your leadership and management career?

We have a 6-month interim Head of Operations opportunity in our Adult Social Care Leadership Team, which plays a leading role in growing and developing our service at one of our most exciting times!

This opportunity combines line management responsibility with the strategic development of our service and leading the operational delivery of integrated health and social care. You will also play a key role in supporting our frontline teams in our preparations to achieve positive outcomes under the future CQC framework.

The post is based at Shire Hall in Gloucester and travel across the county of Gloucestershire is required. We offer flexible working with a mix of office and home working.

About the role:

You will join our well-established Adult Social Care Leadership Team, supporting and deputising for our experienced Assistant Director of Adult Social Care Operations. You will provide additional senior level capacity to our leadership team to drive the strategic development and improvements to the operational delivery of our service.

You will be directly responsible for the line management of Integrated Social Care Managers, who are based in our locality teams across Gloucestershire. You will support a full complement of experienced managers in the strategic direction and performance of their teams. Providing support to them to ensure we achieve positive outcomes and make a difference for the people of Gloucestershire.

You will also be responsible for the budget management and for ensuring our funding is used most effectively to deliver the best possible outcomes for the people we support.

About you:

You will already have experience in the leadership, management and development of teams, along with a desire to progress these skills further. You will have provided leadership and support in the most challenging of circumstances, achieving high standards of practice and positive and improved outcomes.

Your in-depth knowledge and insight of Adult Social Care means you understand the challenges and opportunities the sector faces. You will have experience working with partner agencies, stakeholders and other professionals to deliver a high quality, integrated service and achieving value for money.

You will have worked in a statutory setting and have an understanding of the adult social care legal and policy framework and other relevant legislation.

Perhaps most importantly, you will be an ambassador for adult social care and have a passion for making a difference to people’s lives!

If selected, ideally you should be able to start on 30 June 2026.
