A leading main contractor specialising in high rise residential and large-scale construction projects is seeking an experienced and driven Head of Health & Safety to lead and manage all aspects of health, safety, environmental, and compliance across the business.

This is a senior leadership position for a proactive individual with strong experience managing health & safety on complex high-rise construction schemes and a proven ability to drive a positive safety culture throughout operational teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading the company’s health & safety strategy across all projects and operations
  • Ensuring full compliance with HSE legislation, company procedures, and industry standards
  • Conducting site audits, inspections, and incident investigations across high-rise developments
  • Developing and implementing policies, RAMS, and safe systems of work
  • Working closely with site management teams to promote best practice and continuous improvement
  • Managing training programmes, toolbox talks, and workforce engagement initiatives
  • Monitoring H&S performance, reporting findings, and implementing corrective actions
  • Liaising with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and regulatory authorities
  • Supporting pre-construction and tender teams on H&S planning and compliance

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a senior Health & Safety role for a main contractor
  • Strong background working on high-rise residential or large-scale construction projects
  • NEBOSH Construction Certificate or Diploma essential
  • Excellent knowledge of current HSE legislation and CDM regulations
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills
  • Ability to influence teams and maintain high safety standards across multiple projects
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Chartered IOSH membership advantageous
