Job Title: Head of Science
Location: Bexley, South East London
Start Date: ASAP / September 2026
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent
Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR (dependent on experience)

About the Role:
A high-achieving and forward-thinking secondary school in the Bexley area is seeking to appoint an ambitious and experienced Head of Science.

This is an exciting opportunity for a current middle leader or an outstanding Science Teacher ready to step into leadership, overseeing a successful department and driving excellence across KS3–KS5.

You will play a key role in shaping a broad, engaging, and ambitious Science curriculum, ensuring high standards of teaching, learning, and student outcomes across the department.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the Science department across KS3–KS5
  • Deliver high-quality Science teaching and model outstanding practice
  • Drive student progress, attainment, and curriculum development
  • Monitor teaching standards and support staff development
  • Line manage and mentor members of the Science team
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement and strategic planning

  • Holds QTS and a relevant Science degree
  • Experience teaching Science across KS3–KS5

  • Commitment to inclusion, high standards, and student success
